The journey to bringing home a NLH Dachshund
We don't have puppies available all year round, and our families typically wait 6–12 months for the right puppy to become available. This allows us to thoughtfully plan our litters, carefully match each puppy with their family, and give every puppy the best possible start in life.
Our Application Process
Before you apply
Finding the right home matters just as much as finding the right puppy.
Our puppies are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We take the time to get to know each prospective family, their lifestyle, experience, expectations and the life they can offer a puppy.
Our application process helps us understand you, while giving you the opportunity to understand how we raise our puppies and what makes the Northern Long Haired Dachshunds experience different.
We are looking for families who see bringing home a puppy as a long-term commitment and who value health, temperament, early development, education and ethical breeding.
Our waitlist
A little patience. A lifetime of love.
Our waitlist is currently approximately 6–12 months, although wait times can vary depending on your preferences, our breeding plans and the puppies born.
We believe the wait is part of the journey. Rather than breeding simply to meet demand, we plan our litters carefully around the health, temperament and genetics of our dogs, while considering the families waiting to welcome one of our puppies.
When you join our waitlist, you're not simply waiting for a puppy. We're working towards finding the right puppy for you.
What happens after you apply?
1. Submit your application
Tell us about yourself, your family, your lifestyle, the research you have done on the breed and the home you can offer.
2. We review your application
We personally review every application and consider whether your home aligns with our breeding program and the needs of our puppies.
3. We get to know you
Suitable families may be invited to chat further so we can learn more about you and answer your questions.
4. Join our waitlist
If we're confident we're a good fit for one another, you'll be invited to join our deposited waitlist.
5. Wait for the right match
As our breeding plans develop and puppies arrive, we'll work through our waitlist with individual families and consider which puppy best suits each home.
